Tell us about your background and soccer story. When did your love for the game begin?

My love for the game began very early. I was born next to the former Atletico de Madrid stadium and was constantly around soccer. I played with my friends and brothers until I was 11 when joined the first Atletico de Madrid Women’s Academy team in their history. From then on, it was all about soccer and getting better.

Who inspired you to be a coach?

I started coaching at the Atletico de Madrid Féminas Academy at the age of 16. I looked up to the President, Lola Romero, and was excited about making the game fun for young children just like it was for me.

What is your favorite part about being a coach?

My favorite parts about being a coach are the relationships that are built throughout the year, the excitement of navigating the challenges of the season, and being able to improve the individual and collective - from an athletic and personal standpoint.

How did the Jill Ellis Scholarship Fund impact your coaching licensing journey?

Coaching is a tough journey and at times you can feel isolated. Being part of the Jill Ellis Scholarship was incredibly empowering and motivating because it allowed me to be around successful, knowledgeable and experienced female mentors. This allowed me to feel a great sense of support because I could continuously see role models and learn from their experiences. It also allowed me to connect with other female coaches within the landscape and provide opportunities to network, share ideas & build relationships.

The financial part of the JE Scholarship Fund was crucial, as I wasn’t being able to do it at that time otherwise. Having a support system is very important, and this gave me the opportunity to learn more about myself and others in this beautufuL journey of soccer.
